This is a brief introduction to our small stud, this part of the site will be reorganised as time permits! If you have any questions please email me.
The Mochrum prefix was established in 1995. Based on Bolgoed (S) bloodlines, most of our stock can be traced back through Bolgoed (S) Fusilier to ancestors such as Llanarth Flying Saucer, Golden Gem, Llanarth Braint and Pentre Eiddwen Comet.
Mochrum Cheiftain Grey Section C sadly no longer with us and much missed.
Our goal is to produce good moving ponies and horses of sound temperament and sound body, who are capable of doing the job that they are bred for.
The Mochrum Stud currently comprises three welsh cob mares, a thoroughbred mare and various ages of youngstock, not forgetting of course our Section C driving pony stallion Mochrum Cheiftain and a four year old cob colt “Panteryrod Royal Anthem” who was purchased as a foal in 2005 from his breeder Mr D H Davies and is to become the stud stallion. Anthem is out of Bolgoed (S) Gorse who was sired by Bolgoed (S) Flying Vicar. He was reserve champion at the Ceredigion Association foal show and second at Llandysul Show as a foal on his only two outings, when still with his breeder D H Davies.
In the past we have been very fortunate to produce some excellent part bred horses from the Bolgoed Stud’s superb Irish Draft Stallion Bolgoed (S) Barnacle Bill pictured below. After many years of planning and research (and a bit of dream fulfilment on my behalf as I have always been an admirer of the Spanish Horse, both as a breeder and an artist!) we have finally taken the plunge and purchased a PRE Pura Raza Espanola (Spanish Horse)colt from the respected St Pirans Stud in Cornwall as a foal last year.
We will be using Doncel to cross onto some of our Welsh mares and hope to produce some nice partbred horses, in the future we aim to also breed some pure breds.
Below are some more pictures of our horses and their relatives. More information will be added at a later date!
